Previous years, they were live. Trust me, they usually sound horrible during the group songs. But this year they sound too good. I heard that they pre-record the group songs and then lip them. I really don't like this idea, it really takes away from the authenticity of the show...I mean, are they trying to give us one less performance to base our favourites on? Tonight I really noticed it when scott was singing. They all sound really good together, I don't understand why they are lip syncing.
